Doorstop Kits

#closeuptuesday We have these two boxes in our collection, one an early French marriage box, we believe bought in France by Lady Victoria Wemyss and the second (behind) is a copy made in the School in the 20th century. We have all the templates for the embroidery (drawn and then pricked) on paper for the sides of the 'new box'. We think the wooden case for the new box was made by the estate carpenter.
Back in my Italian office! This is the beautiful fresco above the altar in the tiny church of San Martino in Coreglia Antelmineĺli which I can see from where I will be sitting stitching my Pomegranates this afternoon. How lucky am I?
#closeuptuesday Two birds on a pair of 17th century pelmets in our collection. The pelmets were restored in the 1980's when the robust crewel embroidery was applied to new twill. The pelmets wree in a very dilapidated state having been taken to the trenches in France during the First World War.

Our new car park! The torrential rain has interrupted work on our car park extension ...... now it is a foot deep in mud .... We fear it's looks will not recover properly until the spring but it will be hugely better than at present. Meanwhile DONT BE PUT OFF FROM VISITING! We still have room to park and you don't need wellies.
