Elizabeth Thistles
Elizabeth Thistles
A small, design size 5.5”x7”/14cmx18cm, embroidery kit worked in Appletons Crewel Wools on a cotton twill (the definition of crewelwork is wool embroidery on linen so this is technically embroidery rather than crewelwork).
This ‘stand alone’ piece has been developed by Cathryn Featherstone, primarily as a teaching project, and comes from our Elizabeth cushion design - Elizabeth is almost ready as a kit, we are still working on the instructions! - which is a companion piece to our Molly design. The full Elizabeth design was put together by Helen McCook using elements from paper designs in our collection with some additions from Louise Dawson who stitched our Elizabeth sample.
We have sourced the cotton cloth used in this kit as an alternative to the Jacobean Linen Twill used for both Molly and Elizabeth.
